Baked Risen Doughnuts

March 8, 2014 Lorin Bruckner
donuts_main.jpg

If you haven't done so yet, I highly recommend getting yourself a couple of doughnut pans. They might seem like a frivolous novelty, but once you can have fresh vegan doughnuts in the morning without all the grease, you'll feel like less of an idiot for buying them.

Dulce de Leche Blondies

January 29, 2014 Lorin Bruckner
blondies_main.jpg

Dulce de leche, or "milk jam" is a caramel type sauce that hails from South America. It's the kind of decadent ingredient that will make people seriously doubt you are feeding them something vegan. These blondies take some time to make, although they are simple and well worth it, especially if you're looking to knock the socks off your friends.

Bread Pudding

January 6, 2014 Lorin Bruckner
breadpudding_main.jpg

Bread pudding is one of those dishes you're supposed to make with leftover food, but if you crave it when the weather's cold like I do, I see nothing wrong with picking up a baguette while you're at the store and leaving it out overnight.

Maple Iced Pumpkin Cranberry Loaf

November 16, 2013 Lorin Bruckner
loaf_main.jpg

Time for another pumpkin dessert! This one makes a festive and impressive option for holiday parties. The mild sweetness of the pumpkin bread is highlighted by the decadent icing and contrasted by tart bursts of fresh cranberries. It's become so much a favorite that I've started baking it every year.

Pumpkin Snickerdoodles

November 4, 2013 Lorin Bruckner

In case you haven't noticed lately, the past few years have seen pumpkin flavored treats growing and growing in popularity each fall. This year it seems like EVERYTHING has to be pumpkin flavored, and you know what? I can't be more happy about it. BRING IT ON.

Glazed German Apple Cake

October 27, 2013 Lorin Bruckner
applecake_main.jpg

I once had the great privilege of visiting Germany, and while I was in Munich, I sampled a cake I saw in a number of bakery windows. It was bursting with a multitude of luscious apple slices that were barely held together with a dense, lightly sweetened dough.

Kheer

October 9, 2013 Lorin Bruckner
kheer_main.jpg

Kheer, a heavenly spiced Indian rice pudding made with fruit and nuts, is one of those desserts I started missing as soon as I went vegan. I was very happy to learn how easy it is to make at home. It can be enjoyed warm or cold, making it a perfect year-round treat.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bars

September 29, 2013 Lorin Bruckner
pbbars_main.jpg

Today we're channeling our inner funky monkey with the time honored combination of peanut butter, bananas and chocolate. The rich decadence of these bars makes them more of a special treat than an everyday snack, but they're  great to serve to people who think that vegan food is all cardboard and dandelion leaves.

Waffles

September 20, 2013 Lorin Bruckner
waffles_main.jpg

Think about it. What sane person - man or woman, adult or child, vegan or non-vegan - doesn't like waffles? Fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside and filled with any combination of goodies you can imagine...is there really a single soul who will claim to dislike them? This is why you need to make waffles all the time, and serve them to anyone who comes to visit. Serve them for brunch. Serve them for dessert. Serve them for dinner. I'm serious. Why not?

Some call them tea cookies. Others call them Mexican wedding cookies or snowballs. I call them delicious!

Gingery Peach and Bourbon Cream Cupcakes

If you're a fan of boozy desserts like I am, these grown-up cupcakes will hit the mark. They take a little time to prepare, but are pretty much my most favorite cupcakes in the whole world, so I think they're worth it!

One of my favorite summer flavor combinations are berries and lemon. You know what else goes really well with lemon? Poppy seeds. So why not have all three?
